A similar type of Reds vs. Brewers game to what we’ve seen before. Mistakes really hurt the Reds (today it was on the bases on a double play, and then a wild pitch). Drohan beat the Reds with his fastball. The Brewers worked really tough at-bats early. The Reds’ bullpen had to cover a lot of ground. Tonight, Brock Burke allowed two runs in the seventh. The Brewers delivered in the clutch, their defense made some really nice plays and their bullpen was lights out.

My last remaining hope for the 2026 #Reds is that they can make the experience of managing this team so miserable that they leave Terry Francona, Chris Valaika, and Mike Napoli no choice but to walk away at the end of (or ideally before) the end of this season.
Here’s the thing: I don’t think Nick Krall is a bad guy or anything. I don’t even think firing him is going to fix the problems with this team either. But they’re not firing the old man and his cronies (yet) and Krall has nowhere near enough sway to earn the right to rebuild 2x.
I feel bad for Matt McLain. For all of his offensive problems, he’s a fine middle infielder. To just throw him out there in games like this with the season barely hanging by a thread when there’s a very experienced centerfielder on the roster is beyond unfair to him. It’s also very unfair to a pitching staff that has enough problems as is.

The Reds have lost two center fielders to the IL in the last few days. One of their Triple-A options in center field was optioned to Triple-A last week, and the other option was called up from Double-A to Triple-A today. Fans overwhelmingly support a salary cap and floor like in the other leagues because they don't believe a $446 million spending gap from top to bottom is a fair fight. Our proposal levels the playing field while sharing baseball revenue with the players 50/50 as we grow the game together. Further, revenue from all local media will be centralized and shared equally, which will allow MLB to address local market blackouts.
